Reference Services
Reference Service is an important service offered by the library. It helps users to make full use of the resources available in the library. It provides guidance in the use of library resources and services, assists in accessing e-journals, e-books, databases, multimedia sources etc. It also maintains a collection of more than 26,000 reference books consisting very good number of encyclopedias, dictionaries, government publications, theses, census reports, yearbooks, guide books, Visva-Bharati publications, atlas, maps, etc. on various subject domains. Reference sources on philosophy and religion, social science, language of Indian and foreign origin, subject specific encyclopedias like economics, physical education, fine arts are frequently used. Books on and by Rabindranath Tagore are of most demanding nature. Special collection on Birbhum district, English literature and Panjika (Bengali Almanac) are held in high demand.
